The latest TV drama smash hit A Lifelong Journey, being shown nationally on CCTV, is said to be holding the country's viewers spellbound, with its unforgettable scenery and landmarks set in the city of Changchun in Northeast China's Jilin province and other magical places in the region.

Adapted from writer Liang Xiaosheng's award-winning novel In the World, the ongoing TV series paints a vivid picture of ordinary Chinese people living in challenging and changing times.

The film locations for the TV series are set in many iconic places in the province, such as Jingyue Lake, a national 5A-level tourist scenic spot, which was the first water source built artificially in 1934 to supply water to urban Changchun. It has a forest coverage rate of more than 96 percent.

A lot of evocative infrastructure in the city appears regularly in the show, including the No 54 tram. The tram first started operating on Nov 1, 1941 and it has witnessed all the ups and downs of Changchun and its people over the past 80 years.

One special scene in an episode, a chat between main characters Zhou Bingkun and Zheng Guangming, was filmed at the main building of the Museum of the Former Site of the Changchun Film Studio. The Changchun Film Studio is widely regarded as being the cradle of new China's film industry, as well being as a must-see visit for tourists.
