With the strong support of Suzhou Customs, Suzhou New District has seen its cross-border e-commerce make steady and high-quality progress in 2021, local media outlets reported.

Statistics show that the comprehensive bonded area in SND helped local companies manage 124,700 cross-border e-commerce deals worth a total value of 140 million yuan ($22.16 million) in 2021. Among them, 57,400 were B2C deals and 67,200 were B2B deals valued at 13.31 million yuan and 127 million yuan respectively.

The two sides have been working together to develop new logistics channels, remove barriers for customs transfers within the Yangtze River Delta region, innovate financial service patterns, and set up a demonstration system for overseas warehouse cooperation.

By integrating cross-border e-commerce with China-Europe freight trains, SND effectively tackled challenges in international transport brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and enabled the steady export of high-quality made-in-Suzhou products to the world.

Due to its close cooperation with Shanghai Customs, SND managed to have its B2C cross-border e-commerce commodities cleared and shipped from Shanghai in April 2021, making it the first city in the Yangtze River Delta region to achieve customs transit with the metropolis.

In the future, the two sides will seize the development opportunities brought about by the RCEP agreement and continue to deepen cooperation with other regions so as to bring more benefits to local companies, more convenience to foreign trade, and more improvement to its business environment.
