Three expressways improving connectivity between Chongqing municipality, Sichuan province and Guizhou province officially opened to traffic on Dec 24, bringing the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle closer to realization.
The expressways include the Second Track of the Chongqing-Guizhou Expressway (Chongqing section), Dazu-Neijiang Expressway (Chongqing section), and Hechuan-Anyue Expressway (Chongqing section), which received a total investment of 28.8 billion yuan ($4.52 billion) and a run a total length of 205 kilometers.

As an integral part of the new western land-sea corridor, the Chongqing-Guizhou Double Track Expressway will serve as a major channel for the transport of goods from Chongqing to Guangxi via Guizhou.

The Second Track of the Chongqing-Guizhou Expressway (Chongqing section) has nine toll gates and will affect the lives of 2.2 million residents living nearby. It will only take around three hours to travel from Chongqing to Guizhou once the Guizhou section of the track is completed.

The Dazu-Neijiang Expressway and Hechuan-Anyue Expressway will boost exchange between Chengdu and Chongqing, and promote the construction of a modern comprehensive transport network and one-hour traffic circle.

By Dec 24, Chongqing had established 3,841 kms of expressway.
