Northeast China's Liaoning province is embracing its Red history, and including it in its plans for high-quality development motivated by the spirit of the Communist Party of China.

The city of Linghai, located in western Liaoning, is rich in Red education resources. The village of Mangniutun in Cuiyan town in the city was the location of the front command post of the Northeast Field Army during the Liaoxi-Shenyang Campaign.

To have Red education resources playing a leading role in the city's development, Chen Linsong, Party secretary of Linghai, said officials can get experience and motivation from reading up on Party history to help Linghai open a new chapter in its economic and social development.

Located in the Bohai Sea's Liaodong Bay, Linghai had around 79,333 hectares of wetland, a typical coastal estuarine wetland.

However, with an increase of marine projects lately, the original estuary beach in Linghai was divided and its coastal wetland ecosystem experienced degradation.

Facing this challenge, Chen, with his fellow officials, studied the development concept of "lucid water and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and looked to find a green development mode that suits Linghai.

Since 2018, the city has restored 200 hectares of coastal wetland and constructed an array of green corridors, ways and banks, which has helped to substantially improve the city's urban and rural appearance.

In the future, Linghai will build a batch of tourist attractions and scenic areas that refer to the establishment standards of national-level tourist resorts, according to local officials.

Besides Chen in Linghai, ex-serviceman Li Gang in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, has gained strength on the road to development.

Born in 1960, Li was the director of the Shenyang housing management sub-bureau of the Shenyang military area.

After retiring in 2010, Li quickly overcame the transition from military to civilian life and started his first business in 2011.

However, shortly after starting his business, Li suffered from cervical spondylosis due to overwork and was bedridden.

In the process of seeking medical treatment, Li met with a physiotherapist engaged in spinal treatment. They agreed to jointly research and develop a robot for helping people with stretching and spinal physiotherapy.

Based on the theory of traditional massage and vibration physical therapy, the robot tries to relieve and regulate spinal related diseases.

As a veteran, Li was vigorous in his work and devoted himself to the R&D, testing, improvement and upgrading of prototypes. In the trial production process, Li used his own body in experiments, experiencing the effects of physical therapy.

After more than half a year of treatment, Li could not only stand up but could live and work normally.

Paying attention to the large number of patients suffering cervical spondylosis, Li started his second business-a spinal physiotherapy company named Liaoning Shuangxing-in 2015.

As an innovative technology company in the health industry, Liaoning Shuangxing has realized an integrated chain of sports rehabilitation and spinal correction, as well as the R&D, commissioned production and sales of sports fitness equipment.

The company has 10 patents, three software copyrights and 10 registered trademarks so far, and has offered more than 140 jobs to ex-servicemen.
