Foshan aims to steer growth across industries

The Foshan government will promote the air-rail economy in the west and an intelligent economy in the south.

In the northern part of Foshan, an industrial park at the junction of Sanshui and Nanhai districts will be built. The park will cover 423 square kilometers, more than the total area of existing industrial land in Foshan. It has been approved by the provincial government to be included among the seven industrial parks in the province, and will focus on developing industries such as high-end equipment, new materials and new energy.

This is an extension of Foshan's efforts to foster closer tie between Nanhai and Sanshui districts. Local officials said Nanhai and Sanshui districts started cooperating as early as 2017, with an agreement signed and 33 projects from six aspects to be carried out. They will cover industry, city planning, infrastructure, public service, environmental protection and community management.

Moreover, the two districts are promoting the development of the zone encompassing Shishan town, the first town in Guangdong with its GDP exceeding 100 billion yuan, and Leping town which has a total industrial output value exceeding 100 billion yuan.

Similarly, Shunde and Gaoming districts in Foshan are working closely under the government's guidance. For instance, Shunde-based Guangdong Vanward New Electric Co, a water heater and kitchen appliance producer, has set up two production bases in Gaoming district in recent years.
