Location: Shandong province is located along the eastern coast of China and at the lower reaches of the Yellow River. It borders Hebei, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu provinces.

Economy

Shandong is predominant in agriculture, renowned as "China's most outstanding agricultural province". Additionally, it enjoys an advanced marine economy accounting for one fifth of the national economic aggregate, and it has established more than 240 marine ranches with a total area of over 19,000 hectares. Shandong is the major producer and supplier of petroleum, coal and nonferrous metal, having the most gold reserves and output as well as abundant sea salt and diversified coastal birds.

In 2018, its GDP reached 7.65 trillion yuan ($1.11 trillion), a year-on-year increase of 6.4 percent; the total export-import volume hit 1.93 trillion yuan, rising by 7.7 percent year on year; the added value of provincial industrial companies above a designated scale ascended by 5.2 percent; the gross general budget revenue outnumbered 0.65 trillion yuan.

Administrative divisions

Shandong province governs 16 prefecture-level cities. They are Jinan, its provincial capital, Qingdao, Zibo, Zaozhuang, Dongying, Yantai, Weifang, Jining, Taian, Weihai, Rizhao, Linyi, Dezhou, Liaocheng, Binzhou, and Heze.
