Suzhou New District saw its total imports and exports grow 45.4 percent year-on-year to $10.14 billion in the first quarter of this year, accounting for 11.8 percent of the city's total, local media outlets reported.

Its exports had the highest year-on-year growth in Suzhou at a rate of 58 percent to $6.47 billion, while imports grew 27.4 percent year-on-year to $3.67 billion.

The Integrated Free Trade Zone, an indicator of SND's foreign trade market, grew 49.6 percent year-on-year to $4.35 billion in imports and exports, accounting for 43 percent of the district's total.

These achievements were partly a result of a resumption in orders from the European Union and the United States. According to statistics, the top 30 enterprises in terms of exports and imports in SND saw a combined $7.35 billion in foreign trade, accounting for 73 percent of the district's total.

Logitech, a Swiss manufacturer of computer peripherals and software that operates in SND, saw its orders soar by 282 percent year-on-year. Lexy, a local manufacturer of home appliances, also saw year-on-year growth of 115.9 percent in overseas orders.

SND will take measures to maintain this encouraging trend and promote the steady growth of foreign trade. It will improve the efficiency of foreign trade management, summarize and analyze foreign trade markets, continue its COVID-19 prevention and control work, and encourage export-oriented commodities to be sold at home.
