Can you imagine participating in a Formula One race, changing tires, marching on the racetrack and driving the racing car without even registering? If so, there's somewhere you must visit in Beijing.

The Beijing Auto Museum, China's first of the type, is well-known not only for its large collection of exhibits but also for its unique architectural design.

Covering a construction area of 50,000 square meters, the building looks magnificent with its eye-shaped design, viewing the world and facing the future.

The museum has over 6,000 auto related items and works of art in its collection by the end of 2010, including more than 80 cars. Its collection covers domestic and foreign automobile models, and incorporates the Red Flag series, Shanghai series, Beijing series, GIS & JIM, Volga series and a large number of documents.

In keeping with its main story of history-technology-future, the museum sets up three exhibition halls: the Hall of Innovations, the Hall of Development and the Hall of the Future, which are supplemented by the Exhibition of Classical Collections of the Chinese Automobile Industry.

The Hall of Innovations focuses on the history and development of automobiles of diversified types and China's automobile industry. It started with the ancient horse carriage, the steam locomotive, the single cylinder motorcycle and the appearance of the Benz Patent Motor Car and mass production of Ford Model T cars.

The Hall of Development displays the internal structure, engineering technology, design and production of automobiles.

The Hall of the Future presents new energy vehicles and concept cars and various cultural phenomena caused by automobiles, and reflects on the car as a means of transportation that has greatly changed human life and its future development.

The exhibitions break the traditional display methods, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the history of automobiles and experience what it was like to drive them.
