Sam's Club, the high-end membership store of world retailing giant Walmart, is expected to put its first store in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region into operation in 2022.

The construction of Guangxi's Sam's Club, undertaken by the Second Construction Limited Company of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division, kicked off on Jan 27 in Qingxiu district, Nanning, the region's capital.

The project enjoys convenient transportation as it is located on the north side of Exit D of Baihualing Station on Nanning's Metro Line 1, and faces Gaopoling Road in the west and Na'an fast road in the east. The building will have three overground floors as well as underground spaces.

It is expected that the project will offer more job opportunities for local residents, fuel the development of commerce and trade in Qingxiu district, increase the influence of the district, as well as upgrade local business service capacity.

Huang Jianing, a vice president from Walmart China, expressed a hope that the Sam's Club in Nanning will offer high-quality services and excellent goods from all over the world, with support from the Nanning and Qingxiu governments.

Huang added that Nanning has always been an important strategic market to Walmart, and that Walmart will make full use of the Sam's Club in Nanning to enrich Guangxi's retail service offering and contribute to the prosperous development of Nanning's economy.

Opening a Sam's Club has become a symbol showcasing the vitality of a city's economic development and its consumption potential. At present, Sam's Club has opened more than 800 outlets around the world and 31 of them are in 29 Chinese cities.
