Three new border economic cooperation zones have been approved for the Fangcheng, Jingxi and Longzhou areas of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, officials from the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced on Jan 14.

The three border economic cooperation zones are expected to be built into higher-level platforms featuring elements including border trade, processing, manufacturing, production services, cross-border finance and logistics procurement.

The Fangcheng border economic cooperation zone covers a total area of 67.08 hectares, the Jingxi border economic cooperation zone covers 152.29 hectares, while the one in Longzhou is the largest, occupying an area of 423.23 hectares.

Three cities and eight counties or districts in Guangxi border Vietnam along the 696 kilometer Chinese-Vietnamese land boundary and the 1,595 km Chinese-Vietnamese sea boundary.

In recent years, Guangxi has achieved remarkable outcomes by applying the "border trade products + further processing" development model, driving the growth of areas including markets near ports, cross-border logistics and electronic commerce, and providing jobs for residents living in the border areas.

According to incomplete statistics, the integrated development of border trade with other industries such as processing, finance and tourism in Guangxi has created a total of nearly 100,000 job opportunities.
