Romantic Zhuhai joins the Venice of China (Suzhou) and Hawaii of China (Sanya) to lead 301 prefecture-level cities in terms of obtaining global exposure, according to a Jan 3 report on data collected from Google News, Twitter, and YouTube.

The report covers overseas communication networks that have been constructed by Chinese Cities. It was compiled by the New Media Communication and Education Journalism & Media research centers of Beijing Normal University, chinadaily.com.cn, and GMW.cn (Guangming Online).

Zhuhai stands out with a new city image logo and promotional video broadcast on Aug 25, 2019. As a major branding, the video was seen at Times Square in New York City and in China Southern Airlines flight cabins.

Two months later, the 3rd 21st Century Maritime Silk Road China (Guangdong) International Communication Forum hosted a city image promotional conference. Renowned international communication experts, natives, entrepreneurs, and longtime expats shared stories about Zhuhai.

Then 14 journalists from across the world explored Zhuhai's significance and role in the booming Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area from Nov 17 to 20, 2019. Their reports reached more than 3 million readers in 24 countries and regions.

Moreover, Zhuhai increase its profile by being a sub-venue of the 2020 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. The article "Spring Festival Gala on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Rises a Dynamic Zhuhai to View" was republished by 604 global media outlets and received more than 187 million page views.

The livability, romance, and vigor of the seaside garden city were presented to Japanese readers in the cover story of the April 2020 issue of the monthly magazine China Vision.

Zhuhai released the "Incredible Zhuhai" series of micro documentary films spotlighting foreigners in the city in August 2020. City image promotional videos were produced in Spanish and Portuguese, and promotional books were published in Spanish.

Meanwhile, the coastal city cooperated with China Central Television as the initial stop in the country's first marine city-themed documentary series, Blue Sea China, which will, in the first half of this year, air Zhuhai's vitality, charm, and marine achievements since the 18th CPC National Congress of 2012.

Other top-10 prefecture-level cities in global exposure report are Yangzhou, Zhongshan, Nantong, Wuxi, Dongguan, Luoyang, and Huangshan.
