Wuhan residents share hopes for 2021

In Central China's Wuhan, where the COVID-19 outbreak was first reported, most residents are enduringly optimistic as they return to normal life seven months after the city's strict lockdown was lifted, according to a Reuters report on Sunday.

The British news outlet interviewed people from different walks of life throughout Wuhan to share their hopes for 2021.

Jiang Honghua, 34, a street food vendor, said: "I thought my year in 2020 was actually OK - I felt lucky I could maintain the livelihood of the whole family. I hope in year 2021 I can have good business."

An Junming, a volunteer during the city's 76-day lockdown, delivered food to people quarantined in their homes. He said he hoped the entire city prospers in 2021.

Liu Runlian, 58, a street dancer, said: "2021 is coming, and I don't expect much from myself. But I want to live a peaceful life, and then I hope everyone is safe."
