China has by far the world's largest high-speed railway network. Its total mileage, 38,000 kilometers by the end of 2020, is almost enough to circle the earth once.
The network is so extensive that nearly all big Chinese cities can be reached by high-speed trains. And they are fast.
Moreover, the changes are not limited to merely speed or reach. China's high-speed trains are traveling in digital time. E-tickets and facial recognition have been very common for travelers.
