On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, people in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, will arrange mooncakes, peaches, apples, cakes, clay figurines, and more in the shape of a tower to pray for luck and good fortune, which is called "bai ta" in Chinese.

 

It is said that the custom was invented to celebrate the victory of 16th-century general Qi Jiguang against Japanese pirates.
