A ground augmentation system project using the Beidou Navigation Satellite System is being constructed in Southwest China's Guizhou province, marking the first application of Beidou in the province's power grid.

Undertaken by Guizhou Power Grid Corp, the project will utilize the Beidou Navigation Satellite System and realize high-precision positioning in Guizhou's power grid.

Once completed, the project will lay a solid foundation for Guizhou Power Grid Corp to apply intelligent equipment, realize time synchronization of the automatic dispatching system and electric power network frequency, as well as collect data from remote areas with Beidou's text message transportation function.

The project will be constructed by POWERCHINA's Guizhou Electric Power Design & Research Institute and completed in four months.

In the future, Guizhou Electric Power Design & Research Institute and Guizhou Power Grid Corp will cooperate for technology research on the power grid and Beidou, as well as enhance communication, navigation and remote sensing services.

Both sides will also promote the application of Beidou in electric power equipment transportation and inspection, marketing services, infrastructure construction and dispatching control to boost the development of the Beidou system.
