The poverty alleviation offices and the finance departments of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Guangdong province jointly issued a policy on measures for Guangdong to help Guangxi with financial cooperation funds to support consumption-driven poverty alleviation efforts in 33 counties of Guangxi.

Guangdong province will assist the storage, transportation, and circulation of poverty alleviation agricultural and sideline products in 33 poverty-stricken counties in Guangxi. It will also support the main market entities in the poverty-stricken counties that play a role in their poverty alleviation efforts, as well as promote the sales of local poverty alleviation agricultural products.

The measures include five aspects. The financial assistance funds of Guangdong province can be used to support poverty-stricken counties to carry out identification of related agricultural and sideline products. They can also be used to build processing workshops, cold storage and circulation cold chains, as well as to set up sales platforms for poverty alleviation products, especially for the markets in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In addition, the funds can be used to support market entities' loan interest discounts in circulation links, as well as to reward various market entities that purchase and store local poverty alleviation agricultural and sideline products that are unsalable due to natural disasters, epidemics, and other unforeseen reasons.

As of the end of June, more than 100 million yuan ($14.26 million) of poverty alleviation funds have been arranged this year to build cold storage, cold chain, and sales channel projects. In addition, a 1.05 billion yuan agricultural product sales agreement has been signed, while 3,552 agricultural products have been identified as poverty alleviation products, generating 11.3 billion yuan in sales across the county, of which 8.7 billion yuan came from Guangdong province.
