From July 1 to Sept 30, Guangxi will carry out a three-month special action against infringement and counterfeiting crimes. During this campaign, it will seriously investigate and deal with cases of intellectual property rights (IPR) infringement, as well as the making and selling of counterfeit and shoddy goods.

In 2019, administrative law enforcement departments at all levels in Guangxi investigated 1,385 cases of IPR infringement and counterfeiting, of which 1,272 cases were handled and 20 cases were transferred to judicial departments. Public security departments resolved 188 cases and arrested 358 suspects, procuratorial organs arrested 318 suspects in 157 IPR infringement and counterfeit criminal cases, while judicial organs accepted 164 cases and concluded 124 of them.

The action will focus on cracking down on intellectual property rights infringement, investigating and punishing illegal acts like infringement of trademark exclusive rights and other commercial logo rights. It will also focus on cracking down on infringing and pirated publications, strengthening the protection of new plant varieties, improving the supervision of the forest and grass seedlings market, enhancing the enforcement of cultural market law, as well as promoting the protection of IPR of foreign-invested enterprises.

The action will also combat the manufacturing and sales of counterfeit and shoddy goods, especially medicine, as well as strengthen efforts to crack down on the sources of counterfeit and shoddy products, ensuring the harmless destruction of infringing and counterfeit goods.

In addition, IPR infringement and counterfeiting crimes will be severely punished, while the penalties for them will be increased according to the law.
