On June 9, Southwest China's Guizhou province issued 6.8 million yuan ($961,472.41) of emergency funds to the counties of Congjiang, Luodian and Pu'an, which are all suffering from severe rainstorms and flooding.

The fund will be used to relocate residents and to guarantee their basic needs. In addition, 300 tents, 2,000 sets of clothes, 1,300 quilts, folding beds and high-power electric generators have been sent to the worst-hit areas.

To deal with the continuous heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gales and hail, Guizhou's disaster reduction office declared an emergency response level VI, and organized five disaster relief work teams to go to the worst-hit areas.

Statistics show that by June 9, the disastrous weather had hit eight cities and prefectures and 36 counties and districts; 215,400 people were affected by the disaster, with eight missing or dead; 2,800 people were relocated; 10,700 hectares of crops were affected, 3,400 hectares of which failed; 24 houses collapsed due to the disaster, and 2,866 houses were damaged.

The disaster has caused a direct economic loss of 326 million yuan. So far, the disaster conditions are still being verified.
