The west part of Zhengyang Alley, also known as East-West Alley, which is the only historical street left in Guilin from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, has completed its upgrade and officially opened to the public on April 29.

Located in Xiufeng district, Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the reconstruction of Zhengyang West Alley is part of the renovation and upgrading project of the the Jingjiang Prince Mansion area. The project scope includes west of Zhengyang Road, south of Jingjiang Prince Mansion, north of Jiefang East Road, and east of Zhongshan Middle Road.

The project was invested in by the people's government of Xiufeng district with an estimated investment of 81.47 million yuan ($11.5 million). The total construction area is 10,212 square meters, of which the planned construction area is 7,972 sq m.

Zhengyang West Alley highlights the profound historical and cultural atmosphere of the ancient king city featuring the style of ancient residential buildings of northern Guangxi. After completion, Zhengyang West Alley will be under standardized management with the east part of the alley. Local cultural heritages and various ethnic culture will be showcased to visitors, while boutique hotels will be developed.

In the future, East-West Alley will be built into a historical block featuring leisure, tourism, shopping, and entertainment facilities. It will contribute to the construction of the Guilin Solitary Beauty Peak·Prince City Scenic Area, which is a typical representative of Guilin's history and culture, as well as a 5A-level attraction in the city.
