A group of Beijing medical staffers, dispatched to Wuhan to battle the COVID-19 outbreak, returned home on Tuesday.

"They have accomplished the mission and won the battle with zero infection," said Gao Xiaojun, spokesperson of Beijing's health committee, at a press conference held on Tuesday.

According to Gao, the 138 medics worked at Wuhan Union Hospital for 65 days, had charge of 150 beds and treated 345 patients - 88 percent of whom had serious or severe symptoms. By the day of their departure, 220 of their patients had been cured and discharged.

Tuesday also saw the last batches of medical workers sent by Anhui, Heilongjiang, shanxi and Jiangxi provinces return home.
