Exceptions to be made to new Beijing quarantine rules

Among passengers arriving in Beijing from overseas, people who are older than 70, minors and pregnant women can apply to do the quarantine at their own homes, according information released at a news conference held in Beijing on Monday.

Those who have diseases that prevent them from living in group quarantine and those who have separate houses in which there are no other people living can also apply for quarantine at home.

Starting Monday, all passengers arriving at Beijing from overseas will be put on 14-day quarantine at designated facilities equipped with healthcare services.

People need to submit applications to the community where they live before entering Beijing. The community and health care staff will check and verify their applications and issue approvals to those who are qualified for home quarantine, Zhang Ge, deputy head of the community group on preventing and controlling the COVID-19 in Beijing said at the news conference.

Those who are quarantined at their own home can have one person to take care of their life if they need assistance.

As of Sunday, Beijing has reported 31 imported cases of COVID-19, involving six countries. Of the confirmed cases, 27 showed respiratory symptoms and fever when they entered Beijing.

Two have been cured.
