Inner Mongolia to add over 1.8 mln hectares of forest, grass

North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will green over 1.8 million hectares of land with trees and grass this year to strengthen its afforestation efforts, said the regional forestry and grassland administration Friday.

A total of 864,700 hectares of trees and 1 million hectares of grass will be planted this year in Inner Mongolia that spans the vast northern territory of China.

Mu Yuan, head of the administration, said Inner Mongolia will coordinate the management of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands and deserts, promote ecological restoration in key areas, strengthen ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin, intensify efforts to prevent and control desertification and promote grassland ecological conservation in 2020.
