Beijing's sub-center will promote 197 major projects with a total investment of around 522.5 billion yuan ($74 billion) this year, according to an action plan released by the government recently.

Among them, 80 are infrastructure construction projects, 83 are livelihood improvement projects, 23 are industrial development projects and the remaining 11 are government administration projects.

The sub-center will promote projects in education, medical care, culture and housing to improve public facilities.

In addition to branches and extensions of schools and hospitals in downtown areas, the sub-center is now building a theater, library and museum, with scheduled completion by 2022.

To boost industrial development, the sub-center will set up a business district and a high-tech industrial cluster.

Meanwhile, it will also build cultural towns and develop urban technology, cultural creativity and high-tech industries.

Scheduled to be completed in 2023, an artwork trading center under construction in one of the cultural towns is set to become China’s largest artwork exchange platform.

Universal Beijing Resort is scheduled to open in May 2021. With its first-phase project occupying 1.69 square kilometers and the whole project covering 4 sq km, it is expected to become the largest Universal Studios theme park in the world.
