China Southern Airlines Jilin Branch arranged for two flights to send 172 medical workers and six journalists -- as well as medical supplies -- from Changchun in Northeast China’s Jilin province to Wuhan in Central China’s Hubei province on Feb 15, according to airline officials.

They said this was done in accordance with deployment instructions issued by the National Health Commission and the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

The medical personnel are from 15 hospitals in Jilin province and they have been sent to help Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak in China.

In response to receiving its orders, the branch promptly made plans and employed priority transport channels so the two planes received comprehensive checks, according to officials.

Onboard the planes, the flight officers on behalf of the crew expressed their thanks to the medical personnel and journalists and wished them a safe return to Jilin.

The two flights departed Changchun Longjia International Airport on 19:58 and 20:06, arriving at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport at 22:59 and 23:07 respectively.

Since Jan 26, China Southern Airlines Jilin Branch has transported 842 medical personnel in five batches, as well as various materials, to Wuhan.
