Nearly 900 medical workers from Northeast China's Liaoning province began to prepare treating patients infected with the novel coronavirus at Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, on Thursday afternoon.

Since the first medical team set off from Liaoning on Jan 26, the province has dispatched 1,497 medical workers from the departments of pneumology, ICU and infections, as well as other related professionals to Hubei.

1,410 of them are working on the front line in Wuhan, epicenter of the outbreak.

Leishenshan Hospital, with an area of 79,900 square meters and a capacity of 1,600 beds, was built in only 10 days and officially began treating infected patients on Feb 8.

The hospital has 32 inpatient areas, and the Liaoning medical team consisting of 1,013 members will take over 17 areas with 780 beds.

As of Wednesday, the Liaoning medical team had treated 411 NCP patients and 121 of them had recovered and were discharged from hospital.
