China, ASEAN cooperate to train railway industry talents

A total of 18 officials and teachers of the Technical and Vocational Education Division of the Ministry of Education of Malaysia took part in a training course at Liuzhou Railway Vocational Technical College in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from Dec 16 to 23 to learn about high-speed rail technology.

Liuzhou Railway Vocational Technical College has become a popular choice for cooperation with universities in ASEAN countries as it is the only vocational college renowned for its comprehensive railway technology training in Southwest China. Since 2016, more than 20 universities in Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, and other countries have conducted inspections and exchanges to the college, as well as carried out cooperation in international student training, teacher training, and professional construction.

Huang Feng, president of the college, said that it has trained more than a 100 teachers in rail transportation for Thai and Indonesian universities. It also established the China-ASEAN Rail Transit Vocational Education Group, which has attracted 68 institutions from China and ASEAN countries, forming a platform for cooperation and exchanges in rail transit vocational education.

Omar Budin, a leader of the Technical and Vocational Education Division of the Ministry of Education of Malaysia, expressed his hope that Malaysia can cooperate with the college in the fields of rail transportation, automobiles, electronic information, and other majors in the future.

During their visit, participants attended professional lectures on railway signal automatic control, railway engineering, railway locomotives, and other courses. They also got a closer look at teaching equipment, experienced simulated driving of trains, and inspected tracks.
