Liangjiang New Area Digital Economy Industrial Park and six other industrial parks in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality were officially connected to the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Dedicated Connectivity Channel on Nov 21.

In addition, six Chongqing companies signed rental contracts with the dedicated connectivity channel operator, while an additional six Chongqing companies signed rental framework agreements with the operator.

Considered as an important platform for data exchanges between West China and Southeast Asia, the dedicated connectivity channel is expected to lower companies' operation costs and allow companies to have more convenient access to each other's markets.

The dedicated connectivity channel is co-operated by China and Singapore's telecom service providers. It was put into use in September. It has a bandwidth of 260 Gbps, a time delay from 70 to 80 milliseconds, and a packet loss rate of lower than 0.5 percent, superior to the current internet networks.

By 2018, Chongqing's digital economy output value reached 715.7 billion yuan ($101.75 billion), ranking second in West China. Its digital economy accounted for 20 percent of its GDP, ranking first in West China.

The output vale of Chongqing's digital economy is estimated to keep growing this year. By 2022, Chongqing is expected to establish 10 industrial internet platforms, 50 smart factories, and 500 digitalized workshops, as well as have 5,000 companies undergo smart transformation.
