After recently making Lonely Planet's top 10 regions to visit in 2020, Southwest China's Guizhou province attracted even more interest at the 2019 World Travel Market (WTM) London, which was held in the United Kingdom (UK) from Nov 4 to 6.

As one of Guizhou's key tourism projects, Danzhai Wanda Village introduced its various tourism resources as Guizhou's representative to the WTM. Visitors were able to experience intangible culture heritages like paper making and batik at Danzhai's exhibition area.

The village is an innovative tourism project that is integrated with intangible cultural heritages and ethnic culture to alleviate poverty. Tourism is considered as an effective way to stimulate economic growth, and plays a key role in reducing poverty, said Liu Xiaoming, China's ambassador to the UK.

Raj Dohel, sales manager of WTM London, was impressed by the village's poverty alleviation efforts, which has been confirmed by Danzhai's economic data.

Megan Eaves, editor of Lonely Planet and the 78th rotating mayor of Danzhai Wanda Village, promoted Danzhai's famous scenic spots at the fair and announced the recruitment of the village's next rotating mayor. According to statistics, nearly 20 applications for the position were received on the first day of WTM London.
