World tai chi culture and tourism festival kicks off in Sanya

The Fourth World Tai Chi Culture and Tourism Festival got underway in Nanshan, Sanya on Oct 27, with the participation of over 300 tai chi pros and masters, as well as 2,000 tai chi fans from 36 countries across the world including the US, Australia, and Germany.

The five-day festival features more than 10 events such as an opening ceremony, a tai chi research achievement exhibition, a tai chi exchange activity, a tai chi competition, as well as a tai chi tourism summit and forum. It aims to help the tourist city of Sanya build its brand of Sanya World Tai Chi Health Tourism Consumption Center, as well as create a special cultural event featuring "Internet plus tai chi culture" integrating sports with culture and tourism.

At the opening ceremony, tai chi masters and representatives from all over the world dressed up and walked down the red carpet to display the charm of tai chi culture.

After the ceremony, some 40 representatives of famous tai chi associations and organizations from home and abroad gave performances on stage, with the oldest performer being 92 years old and the youngest being only 4 years old.
