Sanya mayor attends Sino-French Cultural Forum in Nice

The 4th Sino-French Cultural Forum was held from Oct 6 to 10 in Nice, south France, with some 300 participants from both China and France gathering for discussions and exchanges on cooperation in the areas of tourism, culture, film, and education.

On Oct 9, Sanya Mayor A Dong was invited to join a roundtable session where he delivered a speech centering on culture and city influence. The special session was joined by over 100 guests, including former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Chen Zhu, former Chinese Ambassador to France Zhao Jinjun, as well as representatives from the cultural sector of China and France.

According to the mayor, the city of Sanya will take the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Port as an opportunity to promote the construction of a cultural exchange platform for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, promote the local characteristic culture, enhance cultural integration and innovation, as well as boost cultural exchanges and mutual learning.

He noted that Sanya will integrate its culture with tourism, the modern service industry, and high-tech industry development, actively building cooperation platforms in the fields of trade, as well as science and technology, with the goal of opening the city wider to the world.

The mayor also extended his welcome to French artists and people from all walks of life to visit Sanya for the Hainan Island International Film Festival, the ISY Music Festival, and the Sanya International Cultural Industry Fair. He also expressed hope for more cooperation opportunities between Sanya and France in culture, trade, and other areas in the future.
