Beijing fashions shows aim to revive traditional craftsmanship

Upcoming *Splendid China: China Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion Shows* will highlight traditional Chinese craftsmanship. [Photo by Jiang Dong/China Daily]

Some designs will borrow elements from historical heritages to highlight Tang Dynasty (618-907) culture, a peak time for the ancient Silk Road, while others will showcase modern influencesto explain classical Chinese aesthetics like ink and water paintings.

The shows will be broadcast live on online streaming platforms.

Splendid China was first launched in 2017.

More than 30 fashion shows in this project have been held nationwide to explore creative ways of introducing traditional textiles into people's everyday lives.
