Advanced equipment manufacturers from South China's Guangdong province will showcase their strength and achievements at an industrial exposition to be held from Friday to Sunday, in the province's Foshan city.
The fifth Exposition for Investment and Trade of Advanced Equipment Manufacturing on the West Bank of the Pearl River-also known as the fifth AEME-will join hands with the cities of Zhuhai, Foshan, Shaoguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Yangjiang, Zhaoqing and Yunfu, to exhibit industrial achievements, cooperation and development in advanced equipment manufacturing.
Among the highlights of the fifth AEME is the robot manufacturing industry forged by Foshan itself. The city has established an intelligent manufacturing technology park in its Shunde district, collaborating with leading robot manufacturer Kuka and Chinese home appliance maker Midea.
With a total area of 800,000 square meters, the intelligent manufacturing technology park consists of four areas centered on intelligent manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and smart home.
In addition, to create an industrial model integrating production, research and marketing, the park has established a robot manufacturing center, research center and application demonstration center.
"The technology park aims to show intelligent technology application scenarios in manufacturing, living, commerce and healthcare," said Fu Shengbin, head of Kuka's operations in Shunde.
"We hope it will become a world-class intelligent manufacturing technology industrial park and a demonstration area for intelligent living, Fu said. The robot manufacturing industry needs close cooperation with the supply chain, Fu said, adding the park has exchanged industrial technologies and experience with German companies since 2018.
According to Fu, starting Aug 1, the park has already sold 300 robots, and has a current output value of 30 million yuan ($4.23 million).
The annual output value of the park is expected to reach 240 million yuan by the end of 2019, and 650 million yuan in 2020.
HSG Laser, a manufacturer of precision laser cutting equipment based in Foshan, will bring to the fifth AEME its cutting-edge laser cutting machine, which is capable of cutting metal up to eight centimeters thick.
As a high-tech enterprise integrating production, research and development and sales, HSG Laser products are being widely used in the auto industry and in electrical engineering. "With its compelling technological innovation and product quality, HSG Laser has its intelligent laser equipment operating in more than 100 countries and regions. And its sales volume is expected to achieve double-digit growth this year," said Ouyang Zhanfei, director of investment at HSG Laser. HSG Laser is stepping up its efforts to expand in overseas markets. Following setting up a marketing subsidiary in Germany, the company plans to establish a research and development subsidiary in Japan and a marketing center in Vietnam in 2019, according to Ouyang.
