Heilongjiang has made great efforts to deepen the supply-side structural reform and foster new engines for economic growth. The province possesses diverse pillar industries, including new materials, green food, biopharmaceuticals, equipment manufacturing and tourism.

Tourism Industry

With its ice and snow resources, Heilongjiang is one of the most popular winter destinations in China. In 2016, the province hosted 145 million visitors, an 11.27 percent increase from the previous year. Revenue in the tourist industry reached 160.33 billion yuan, accounting for 10.42 percent of Heilongjiang's GDP. Making good use of its cool summer and icy winter, it aims to upgrade the tourist industry and build a national first-class ecological recreation destination and tourism industry demonstration base.
