Guangzhou establishes 7 new cross-Straits communication bases

The city of Guangzhou launched another seven cross-Straits communication bases at cultural relics related to Taiwan and frequently visited by tourists from Taiwan on Aug 28. 

The bases were set up at the Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History, the Memorial Museum of Generalissimo Sun Yat-sen's Mansion, the Memorial Museum of the 1911 Revolution, the Guangzhou Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Guangdong Advanced Normal College, which was the site of the 1st National Congress of the Kuomintang, Whampoa Military Academy Site Memorial Hall, and the 3.29 Uprising Headquarters Site. 

The cross-Straits communication base is a platform to boost business and trade ties, as well as enhance cultural exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, which was launched by the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.   

In June 2013, the first cross-Straits communication base was set up at Huanghuagang Mausoleum of the 72 Martyrs in Guangzhou. According to statistics, the eight historical relics have hosted 150,000 Taiwan residents since 2013 and hosted a number of communication activities, such as photo exhibitions, academic exchanges, forums, and cultural festivals.
