Founded in 1989 and based in Luohe, Henan province, Shuanghui Group is the country's largest meat-processing company with total assets worth 20 billion yuan ($2.82 billion), and it is on the list of the China Top 500 Private Enterprises, ranking 147th in 2019.
Sticking to the principle of "high quality, efficiency, struggle, innovation, professionalism and sincerity", the group has made efforts to promote the innovative development of its management, technology and market. In the first half of 2019, the group's operating income totaled 25.45 billion yuan, growing by 7.26 percent year-on-year.
Over years of development, Shuanghui Group has become a transnational food group, and acquired Smithfield Foods, the largest US pork producer, in 2013. In 2014, the group merged with more than 100 affiliated companies in China, the United States and Europe, becoming Wanzhou International Group, and was listed in Hong Kong. It entered the Fortune Global 500 list in 2016.
Shuanghui Group has set up more than 30 modern meat processing bases in 18 provinces and cities across the country, and administrative bodies in Singapore, South Korea and the Philippines, with the aim of further exploring the international market. By 2018, its annual production and sales reached 4 million metric tons, and it had more than 1 million sales terminals globally. The annual sales revenue hit nearly 50 billion yuan, and the group has led the country in the meat industry for more than 20 consecutive years.
