Twelve world-class fireworks teams will stage pyrotechnic shoot-outs in front of Macau Tower during the 30th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest on Sept 7, 13, 21 28, and Oct 1 and 5, celebrating the former colony’s return to China and National Day.

The teams come from Malaysia, the Philippines, Portugal, Korea, the United Kingdom, Romania, South Africa, Canada, France, China, Japan, and Australia. Malaysia and Australia are new this year, while the other ten are Macao veterans. They all are said to have rich experience and extraordinary artistry in creation of fireworks shows.

"The marvelous fireworks displays add a joyous atmosphere to holidays and festivals, and have become an annual must-see in Macao, with many spectators specially choosing this time of the year to visit for an exotic and romantic break", states the Macau Government Tourism Office.

Eight ways are recommended for Zhuhai residents to enjoy the show from Zhuhai, in Macao, or at sea:

The view from the mountaintop commands almost half of Macao's nightscape after a hike from Man Mo Temple (文武庙) upon the mountain in central south Wanzai and long descent to Wanzai Middle School (湾仔中学) in the northeast.
