The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University

Formerly known as the Southeast Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Southeast Medical College founded in 1926, the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University was moved to Huaiyuan county in Anhui and then to Hefei in 1952, and listed in the first batch of national 3A-grade hospital by the Ministry of Health in 1993.

Currently, the hospital has 4,825 inpatient beds, 41 clinical departments, 19 medico-technical departments and 26 clinical teaching and research sections. The annual number of outpatients at the hospital exceeds 4.2 million, and that of inpatients is 192,000.

Focusing on the development of characteristic disciplines, the hospital has one national key discipline, eight construction units of national key clinical specialties, and one key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, as well as many other key laboratories and platforms at the provincial or state level.

The hospital has more than 100 doctoral supervisors, and over 870 experts with deputy senior professional titles or above, with its talent strength ranking first among the province's medical institutions. Among the outstanding talents, there are more than 120 experts who enjoy special allowance awarded by the State Council and Anhui provincial government and eight scholars enlisted in the National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project.

Sticking to innovative scientific research, the hospital leads the world in genetic research into psoriasis, and the gene study of lupus erythematosus. It also led the country in robot surgeries, which have been applied widely in the hospital in urinary, gynecological and obstetric, and cardiac macrovascular surgery.

In recent years, it has conducted more than 250 scientific research projects under the national 863 and 973 plans, and won over 70 awards above provincial or ministerial level.

At the same time, the hospital has focused on promoting international communication and cooperation, establishing scientific cooperative relationships with a wide range of research institutes in the United States, Netherlands, Germany and Japan.
