Shenyang to build first cultural tourism avenue

Shenyang, capital of northeastern Liaoning province, will turn Chongshan Road in Huanggu district into the city’s first avenue that features culture, tourism and creative designs, according to local authorities.

Huanggu district -- which boasts cultural heritage at national, provincial and municipal-levels -- features 21 historical buildings and 37 intangible cultural heritage items.

Chongshan Road, located in the Huanggu district from east to west, is surrounded by many universities, colleges, cultural sites and innovative cultural and artistic innovation centers. In the wake of the establishment of Northeast China’s first handmade wood art workshop there, more cultural and creative projects flocked to the area including a root art gallery and a playwriting center.

With this momentum behind it, Huanggu district is expected to attract more projects featuring artistic creation, fashion, education and training and creative designs to Chongshan Road.
