After nearly one month's closure, Lanzhou marathon park reopened on Sunday August 11 in Lanzhou, Gansu province.
A floral landscape began to fill the park in early July, but following rising water levels in the Yellow River, the park was closed for safety reasons during the flooding season.
After the water level began to normalise, the city restored the landscape in some areas damaged by the floods, according to Wang Zuyan, in charge of marathon park.
Since the start of 2019, the administrative committee of the Yellow River scenic spot has improved the marathon park landscape, now covering an area of 63,000 square meters.
Purple flowers are the main decorative choice, and other flowers including verbena, golden rooster chrysanthemum, Persian chrysanthemum and other perennial herbs have been planted as well.
It is reported that the park also installed nearly 20,000 plant varieties, further enriching the park's plant configuration and forming a "sea of flowers."
On reopening day, a wide variety of flowers were already in full bloom - a large sea of purple vervain flowers were swaying in the wind, and a large number of residents and tourists went to experience the beauty of the park.
