Northwest A&F University

Northwest A&F University, located in Yangling, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, is directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was selected as a first-class university and class A construction college in the list of double first-class constructions announced by the State.

Founded in 1934 as National Northwest Agricultural and Forestry Technical College, the university got its current name in 1999 by merging with six academies of science and research institutions.

The university is a high-level college with the most complete disciplines covering agriculture, forestry and water conservancy across the country, offering students 67 undergraduate degree programs.

There are 26 colleges, departments and graduate schools, 13 postdoctoral scientific research stations, 16 doctoral degrees in first-tier disciplines, and 28 master's degrees in first-tier disciplines. It has seven national key disciplines and, as of May 2019, seven of the university's disciplines had entered the top 1 percent of the world's academic institutions, according to data released by the Essential Science Indicators (ESI).

The university has 4,462 faculty members, including 2,183 full-time teachers. Among the faculty members, there are three academicians of the two academies, six distinguished professors on the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, eight recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and 12 scholars who are enlisted in the National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project.

At present, the university has over 20,966 full-time undergraduates, 9,600 graduate students and 2,130 doctoral students.

Over the years, the university has won 42 national awards, and conducted 14 national scientific projects, with a total of 1,421 invention patents authorized by the State Intellectual Property Office of China.

In recent years, the university has actively engaged in the Belt and Road Initiative, and promoted international communication and cooperation. It has set up cooperative relationships with 159 famous universities and research institutions across the world. Since the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010) period, the university has sent 1,609 students abroad through government-sponsored programs, and it currently has 294 international students.
