Wuhan No 1 Hospital, also known as Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, is located near the Hanshui River in Wuhan.
The hospital was established in 1927 and was one of the earliest public hospitals in Hubei province. It has developed into a national 3A-grade comprehensive hospital integrating treatment, teaching, scientific research, training and health management.
It covers 11.6 hectares with a building area of 180,500 square meters. The hospital has 2,472 beds and the annual patient number of outpatient and emergency departments is 94,700. About 48,000 surgical operations are conducted at the hospital every year. Its total assets amount to 2.86 billion yuan ($415.76 million).
The hospital has set up 49 clinical departments and clinical laboratories, including four national key clinical specialties–dermatology, gastroenterology, nephrology and clinical care. The departments of dermatology, spleen and stomach epidemiology, clinical integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine and clinical TCM are listed among national key TCM specialties.
The hospital has 3,191 staff members, and 328 of those are senior professional technicians.
The hospital operates the first vertical fast path for medical treatment in Hubei province, integrated surgery rooms, automatic biochemical immunoassay pipeline and dazzle dual source CT. It has developed six medical frontier technologies in reproduction, stem cells, genetic diagnosis, interventional therapy, mini-invasive surgical treatment and laser treatment.
