Wuhan Women and Children Medical Care Center, located in Wuhan's Jiang'an district, was founded in December 1954, as the fourth children's hospital in China. In 1996, it was approved in the first batch of national 3A-grade hospitals.

Covering 65,000 square meters with a building area of 264,000 sq m, the hospital currently offers medical treatment and healthcare for women and children in Wuhan and nearby areas.

The hospital has three outpatient departments and 2,000 patient beds. In 2018, the annual patient number of outpatient and emergency departments amounted to 2.77 million and the number of patients discharged reached 102,800. A total of 38,000 surgical operations were conducted in 2018 and 10,034 women delivered babies in the hospital.

The hospital employs 2,524 staff members and more than 300 of them hold senior titles.

It has established 55 clinical departments and medical laboratories such as neurology, neurosurgery, cardiovascular medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, hematologic oncology, urinary surgery, gynecology, obstetrics and reproductive medicine. One of these departments is listed as a national key clinical specialty, 12 are among provincial key clinical specialties and 25 are key clinical specialties at municipal level.

In addition, the hospital has devoted great efforts in carrying out international cooperation and communication with children's medical institutes in countries such as the United States, Germany, Australia and Japan.
