The Central Hospital of Wuhan

The Central Hospital of Wuhan, located in the capital of Hubei province, was first established in 1880. After over 100 years' of development, the hospital has become a large-scale 3A-grade comprehensive hospital offering medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, disease prevention and training.

The hospital has three campuses – Nanjing Road campus, Houhu campus and a demonstration campus combining medical care and nursing. The hospital covers 47,283 square meters with a building area of 208,892 sq m. It has 3,398 patient beds.

The hospital has 39 clinical departments, seven medical laboratories, 25 teaching and research offices and an oncology institute. Among all these departments, 33 are listed as provincial key clinical specialties and 44 are municipal key clinical specialties.

In 2018, the patient number of outpatient and emergency departments reached 2.68 million, while 60,000 patients had surgical operations at the hospital.

The hospital employs more than 4,200 staff members, with 1,335 of them holding senior titles and 1,195 having master's or doctoral degrees.

In addition, the hospital has more than 360 sets of advanced medical equipment such as 3.0T MRI, dual source CT, digital angiography machine and volume-modulated accelerator,making it a pioneer in Central China. The hospital is able to carry out various kinds of difficult operations such as interventional cardiac surgery, multiple valve replacement, large vessel complex surgery, fine radiotherapy, intrahepatic portal shunt via jugular vein, single hole endoscopy and radioactive particle implantation.
