Stone buns (石子馍/Shi Zi Mo) are Chinese-style baked rolls with a long and profound history. It is often found in Lingbao and Lushi counties in Sanmenxia, in Central China's Henan province. They are made of flour, lard, vegetable oil, salt, pepper, Chinese prickly ash and other ingredients. Locals have a unique way of making them, baking them on special stones to give them a rough texture and a great flavor.
