Henan University

Located in Kaifeng, a famous historic and cultural city in central China's Henan province, Henan University was founded in 1912 and served as one of China’s three overseas study training bases for many years, and was given its current name in 1942. In 2017, the university was listed in China's Double First-class Project.

Over the past century, the university has cultivated nearly 600,000 all-round talents, including 57 academicians and members of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and many well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad.

Since the reform and opening-up policy was launched in 1978, Henan University has adopted all-round development of its discipline construction, becoming a comprehensive university with 12 disciplines: literature, history, philosophy, economics, management, law, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, education and art. It has 37 colleges and departments, and three affiliated teaching hospitals.

The university has 4,300 faculty members, including 14 full-time and part-time academicians, and 1,700 teachers with senior or deputy senior titles.

There are 50,000 full-time students at the university, including nearly 10,000 graduate students and more than 700 international students. It offers 98 undergraduate degree programs, 43 master's degrees in first-tier disciplines, 20 doctoral degrees in first-tier disciplines, and 15 postdoctoral stations. It has three key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, and five national education and scientific research bases.

Henan University now has three campuses – Minglun, Jinming and Longzihu – and covers 2.2 square kilometers. Its Minglun campus was listed among the Key Cultural Relics under State Protection in 2006. The university library has a collection of 5.2 million paper books and more than 7 million e-books.

Over the years, the school has developed international exchanges and communication with some 120 universities and research institutions from over 40 countries and regions, and has hosted a wide range of academic exchanges and cooperation.
