Railways
By the end of 2018, the total length of railway lines in Henan province had reached 5,460.1 km, including 1,307.8 km of high-speed railways, and a modern railway system extending in all directions has taken shape in the province.
In 2019, three high-speed railways are expected to open to traffic: the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou, Zhengzhou-Fuyang and Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou high-speed railways. The province’s length of high-speed railway lines will climb to 2,200 km.
Airports
Henan now has four airports in different cities: Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, Luoyang Beijiao Airport, Nanyang Jiangying Airport and Xinyang Minggang Airport.
In 2018, the passenger throughput of civil aviation in Henan was 29.65 million, up 14.19 percent year-on-year, and cargo throughput amounted to 517,346 metric tons, with an increase of 2.42 percent year-on-year, while 230,863 flights were made, growing by 9.13 percent year-on-year.
The annual passenger throughput of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport was 27.33 million, an increase of 12.49 percent year-on-year, and the newly opened Xinyang Minggang Airport handled 93,305 annual passenger throughput.
Waterways
Blessed with abundant water resources, Henan has 493 rivers with a total length of 26,245 km, which play an important role in the development of the circular, low-carbon economy.
The province is expected to spend 8.7 billion yuan on waterway construction during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), with the aim of setting up water passages leading to rivers and the sea in all directions.
By 2020, the length of the province's waterways open to traffic will reach 2,000 km, the inland river freight volume will exceed 100 million tons, and the standardized ratio of transport vessels will hit 90 percent.
