Layout of characteristic and advantaged industries

According to the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration Development Plan (2017-20), which was approved by the State Council on Jan 20, 2017, the city cluster will actively promote the development of the region's characteristic and advantaged industries.

High-end equipment manufacturing industrial cluster

The industries of rail traffic, general aviation and automobile manufacturing will be distributed around Nanning, Zhanjiang, Qinzhou and Haikou. Qinzhou and Fangchenggang are home to harbor machinery manufacturing and light plane industries. Engineering machinery will be established in Yulin and yacht manufacturing in Fangchenggang. Oceanographic engineering, marine equipment manufacturing, and harbor equipment manufacturing will be concentrated in coastal and port areas, while metallurgical equipment industries will settle in Zhanjiang and Maoming.

Metallurgical and petrochemical industrial cluster

The region aims to set up an iron and steel base in Zhanjiang and a stainless steel base in Yangjiang. The industries of non-ferrous metal metallurgy, crude oil processing, oil and gas exploration and processing, fine chemical engineering and chemical new materials will be settled in cities with sound industrial bases.

Electronic information industrial cluster

A computer and spare parts manufacturing industrial base, a research and development base for electro-optic display, and an electronic information industrial park will be built in Nanning, Beihai and Qinahou, all of which will give a boost to the development of the Nanning-Qinzhou-Beihai Electronic Information Core Industrial Belt.

Tourism industrial cluster

The Beibu Gulf Coastal Tourism Belt is to be established in the region, and cruise tourism will be distributed in Haikou and Beihai. Haikou, Beihai, Qinzhou, Fangchenggang, Zhanjiang, Maoming and Yangjiang will focus on the development of coastal tourism. Beihai, Haikou and Zhanjiang will attach great importance to health maintenance tours, and Chongzuo and Fangchenggang will aim to cultivate a development belt for border tourism.
