About 40 young members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from Hong Kong and Macao were invited to Southwest China's Guizhou province on July 9 to learn about the history of the establishment of the People's Republic of China.

The visit aims to support and promote the work of CPPCC members in Hong Kong and Macao, which is expected to increase national consciousness and patriotic spirit among youths in the regions, as well as enhance the principle of "one country, two systems."

The first stop of the visit was the Gouba Conference site in Gouba village, Fengxiang town, Zunyi, where the Red Army decided to cross the Chishui River for the third and fourth time, contributing to the victory of the War of Liberation (1946-49).

The visit allowed the youths from Hong Kong and Macao to experience the route of the Long March, as well as witness the achievements of the reform and opening-up during the past 40 years.

The youths will also inspect the big data development and the construction in rural areas of Guizhou, which represents the changes since the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
