A forum on the cooperation and development of Gansu province's chambers of commerce in Southwest China opened in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, on June 29. More than 200 Gansu businessmen from Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guangxi attended.

The forum provided opportunities for Gansu businessmen to learn more about Guizhou, as well as seek out cooperation opportunities to realize mutually beneficial development.

During the forum, an agreement was reached to promote the cooperation and development between the chambers of commerce in different areas by establishing mechanisms for resource information sharing, chambers of commerce information exchanging, recognition of memberships, industrial exchanges between regions, as well as mutual learning.

During the 40 years of reform and opening-up, Guizhou has evolved from a poverty-stricken area to one of China's rapidly developing areas. Guizhou's economic growth has ranked in the top three in China for many years.

During the first quarter of this year, Guizhou's GDP reached 320.58 billion yuan ($46.57 billion) with a year-on-year growth of 9.2 percent, which is 2.8 percentage points higher than the national level.

Currently more than 200 private enterprises and individual businessmen are running businesses in Guizhou, covering the areas of real estate development, property services, logistics, and food processing, which contribute to the development of both Gansu and Guizhou.
