Intangible cultural heritage festival kicks off in Jilin

The Jilin intangible cultural heritage festival kicked off at the Changchun International Conference Center in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province, on July 5. This same day also marked the opening of the province’s third summer leisure season.

Jing Junhai, governor of Jilin province, addressed the opening ceremony, during which Jilin and Liaoning provinces reached several agreements to establish cooperation in summer tourism, which would include launching a number of regional summer self-driving tourism routes.

Following the ceremony, a total of 350 performers from 14 troupes from Japan, South Korea, Russia, and seven provinces in China staged performances showcasing intangible cultural heritage items such as diabolo, traditional Chinese operas, and Korean dancing.

The summer leisure season will end in October. During this period, nearly 500 summer activities will be held across Jilin province.

The intangible cultural heritage festival will run until July 13, during which more than 2,000 performers from four countries will hold 25 performances and one lecture.
